The Kings have been anything but mediocre so far this season.

I agree that Hamilton has been just okay, but he started slowly last year as well - I am not concerned.

Overall, it's mostly good, though there is plenty of room for improvement. And I am still not at all concerned about Bennett - he just needs a confidence boost.

Much has been made about giving up lots of shots, and I agree that they need to tighten up defensively, but I think shots can be among the most deceiving stats in hockey...

If you look at the 7 teams that have given up the most shots per game so far (all of whom are being out-shot badly), they have a combined record of 24 - 10 - 3.

If you look at the 6 teams that have given up the fewest shots, and all of them except Boston are significantly out-shooting their opposition, they have a combined record of 10 - 15 - 2

Also, it's early and most teams' numbers will normalize substantially from here.
