I wouldn't want to trade Monahan for Tavares simply because Monahan next year will be 24 with 5 years left on a contract at less than $6.5M AAV. Tavares will be 28 on a contract around $10M AAV until he is 36.

I wouldn't want the Flames to trade Bennett and Jankowski for Tavares either but at least 2 unknowns is a risk that could pay off for the Flames. If they move forward with Tavares, Monahan, Backlund as their top 3 centers and their top 4 that team is a cup threat no doubt.
