If we are going to totally handcuff our self with a $10 million dollar contract I want someone better than Tavares. He isn't good defensively and hasn't been able to take the islanders far in the playoffs. Not totally his fault but he's a little over rated.

Tavares is much much much better than Monahan. I really love Monahan but they're not even close. I honestly believe Tavares is in the Tier of players just below Crosby and McDavid. If his team wasn't such a dumpster fire we'd hear a lot more about him.
