Few comments on the win....
1) obviously great to have the stupid streak come to an end.
2) Our top 2 D pairings are really starting to figure it out. Brodie finally looking like that kid from a few years back, who's amazingly fluid skating and ability to make sharp privots out of trouble . It just feels like both top pairings manage the game on the ice, with the puck being held on and distributed by Giordano or by Brodie. I loved that Hamonic can not only play but also was willing to drop the gloves with Perry. It's that kind of pushback that has been missing in the flames that i think they need to beat the heavy teams like the ducks.
3) Offensively, it was an ok night. I thought it was easily tkachuk's best game of the year. His ability to hold onto the puck along the boards for an additional second or two before passing/kicking it out to an teammate speeding in is a very underrated skill. All lines played reallly well i thought. Though, I am still hoping Bennett can show more contribution offensively. That 2-0 not generating a shot was unfortunate.
4) last but not least, Smith had a great night. How the puck stayed out on the play where he appeared to injure himself, is still a mystery to me.
Great game, and progress shown by this team 3 games in. I actually they have more progress/improvement in them, especially offensively.
