Personally? I would put a veteran - Frolik - on the 4th line with Stajan and Hamilton/Brouwer. He can still be on the top PK and that line would actually be pretty dominant.
Gaudreau-Bennett-Lazar/Ferland
Versteeg-Monahan-Jagr
Tkachuk-Backlund-Ferland/Lazar
Frolik-Stajan-Hamilton/Brouwer
But people seem to be stuck on Backlund/Frolik being inseperable (even though Frolik's hat trick game came with Stajan and Ferland being a really underrated two-way player who would fit perfectly with Tkachuk setting him up). I also think Frolik and Stajan against bottom competition are the best bet at reviving 2016 Playoffs Brouwer (he was playing with Fabbri and Stastny) and reviving any trade value he has.
It's not really my choice. But considering Versteeg doesn't score that 5v5 goal without Ferland's far more important takeaway, I think it sends the worst message to demote Ferland. Right now Lazar is sitll the guy who has more to prove to stay in the top 9, and I'm willing to give him as the 22 year old a chance on the top line until he fizzles out. Frolik as a vet isn't going to lose all his ability spending a few games with Matt Stajan.
