I think Hamilton would rise to the occasion. He can play well defensively when he has a mind to, and part of taking the McDavid monitoring role would be to hang back a bit, so as to not lose position.
Hamonic could do it too, but he doesn't have the wingspan of Hamilton, which I'm sort of counting on to counter some of the McDavid speed - make him go wider to get around the stick.
