I also understand that Jankowski may make the team in the future. It doesn't mean I agree with the decision for him not to make the team today. It also doesn't make your conspiracy theory that this is a 'moving parts' problem any more true. They could have demoted Hathaway, waived Hamilton, and sat Stajan for opening night and didn't. That doesn't get any more difficult / easy for game 2.
I have yet to hear you actually make a case on why sending Jankowski down is the right decision. You have criticized others and pointed out the obvious that he could be back. But why do you believe playing Stajan in game one is the right decision?

I have not made the case that it is the right decision because I have never claimed that it
is the right decision. I have stated multiple times, including in this thread a few posts ago, that I think Jankowski most definitely deserves to be on the team.
The difference is that I am not freaking out. I understand that making the team might mean actually getting into the lineup in a few games from now. That sometimes determining a 23 man roster, with different players having different contractual status, might actually require multiple transactions and take some time. I have simply tried to remind people that the opening day roster is not the roster for the whole season and that maybe we could use a bit of patience.
You are attempting to make it look like I am avoiding some issue. Quite the contrary, I have been very clear from the get go: I think Jankowski absolutely earned a spot. And I think he will be here, and in the lineup in very short order. I expect him to play at least 60-70 games for the Flames (barring injury).
If he isn't... if Stajan and Hathaway and Hamilton rotate in and out every night, while Jankowski remains in Stockton for 20, 30, 40 games, then I will not be happy either. I will be quite pissed in fact.
My point to you and others though, is that there is no reason to be freaking out over a single game lineup. Jankowski will very likely be here very soon (or we will have something real to complain about.)
