So you think Jagr, Ferland, Frolik, Hathaway is the worst set of RWs in the league? I disagree.
Brouwer isn't a 4th liner in the NHL. He's a 3rd liner in role. He could play a complimentary role on a 2nd line if you're desperate for a grinding player on that line. He's a 4th liner on the Flames because Ferland, Frolik and Jagr all slot in ahead of him. That doesn't mean he's a 4th liner on every team in the league. Pretty easy concept to understand.
Why did we sign him? Because he's a veteran, right shooting RW who supposedly plays physical. For EXACTLY those same reasons there could be other teams interested in him. The scouting reports and opinions of scouts and GMs across the league will be based on Brouwer's career, not just his play in CGY. GM's will often gives players a second chance. GM's will give a guy a chance to rebound.
It's not inconceivable that another team sees Brouwer as a better fit on their team than he appears to be in CGY.
