Flames looking listless. More importantly, this game and the majority of preseason so far, offensively they don’t look like a sustained threat over the top 3 lines, nor the PP past short bursts from the top line only. 2nd pp unit looked as useless as they did last year when they went from Nov to March without a PP goal.
To that end, that was the fear the Treliving expressed to McKenzie; scoring goals. That’s coming true pretty early against what should be inferior opposition.
I know I’ve been beating the drum hard for Jagr, somewhat for the coolness factor, but in all seriousness, having an outside new energy come in, that’s proven to put up points, and doesn’t cost anything except cap, would be a great addition to a weak right side that the Flames are pinning solely on Ferland to keep up the pace from two months of last year (where the first 5 months plus pretty much the season before that, he was very quiet). There’s no immediate help coming from the farm, and the Flames can’t give up a whole lot to find a premier right winger.
He’s been in touch with the Flames, has history with GG, but most importantly would probs lot fill the skill requirement.
Make it happen. The veteran presence, skill, fill for a weak spot in the lineup, playing PP, and the energy of a HoF player would,do wonders up and down the lineup IMO.
