Pro sports used to be one of the few things that was great for both young, single people, as well as people with families. It was something parents could afford to take their kids to and have a good time, but it was also something that a group of friends in their 20s could go to on a Friday night before heading to the bar. Now it's cheaper and easier for the parents to leave the kids at home with a babysitter and the 20s and single crowd have to choose between the game or the bar, even more so now with how wages of stagnated, unemployment/underemployment for those in their 20s is higher, and the higher costs of living.
