Agreed, a dog does have a mind of its own, where as a gun doesnt. Which actually means for a dog to kill a person, it takes 2 useless brains, the dogs and the owners. Whereas with a gun, it only takes one.
I don't know the numbers, but I feel it's safe to say, there are more accidental gun deaths in the USA every year than death by dog.

If you do everything right with a ill tempered dog, there is still a risk of someone getting hurt or even killed. Case in point that couple whose son was killed by their dogs.
If you have an ill tempered dog, and it kills your child, you definitely didn't do everything right.
I have 2 bullies, one 90lbs and one 70lbs, both have been through training and intense socialization. Everyone who meets them and knows them always note how well behaved they are. I also have a 7 year old son, who has grown up with these dogs since he was 2. They have never been alone in a room together, or unattended outside. No matter how well behaved an animal is, it is still an animal. You don't know what's going on in its head, especially around children. If my dogs attacked my son, or anyone for that matter, it is my fault, and could have easily been prevented.

Someone ####ed up.

The idiot gene usually is responsible.
Same goes for dog attacks.
In both cases the "weapon" is unsecured, and in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to handle it.
Agreed, idiot gene is usually present in both cases.
