There were too many centers to keep Granlund around. He was bred at the position, so didn't seem like there was an appetite to shoehorn him into the wing. Even in Vancouver.
He's scoring some goals for the Canucks and good for him on doing it, but he never was an impact player here and despite his increased production, he hasn't helped elevate the Canucks in any significant way either.
Shinkaruk was good in that little look he got over a season back. Maybe he could've made a spot for himself if he got more time up with the team. The past two camps he hasn't set himself apart though which is unfortunate, and it was hard to justify putting him in over other guys that looked better.
