He's 18 and plays one of the hardest positions to break into. Now that Treliving believes we can contend there's no chance IMO that they have an 18 year old dman learning on the job. Rookie mistakes at that position easily lead to goals against, not a risk to take when we're going for it and there's so many more experienced dmen to choose instead. And the best thing for Valimaki's development is likely going back to junior playing huge minutes in all situations there and being a huge part of Finland's WJC team. Here he wouldn't see PP time, he'd be benched for mistakes and he'd likely start to lose confidence in his offensive abilities.
He's been good but at his age he'd have to be unreal for them to keep him. I'd say there's almost no chance he makes team for the above reasons.
