Maybe the idea of CalgaryNEXT was the impetus behind the purchase of the Stampeders in the first place.
I recall at the time that when the acquisition occurred I thought it was the most sensible course of action for both the football team and the Flames. Of course this occurred at a time when CFL football looked like it might be a commodity that was trending upwards, which hasn't really happened.
