Default GAME 12: BC Lions at STAMPEDERS

Calgary Stampeders vs BC Lions

McMahon Stadium
Saturday, September 16th
5 p.m. kickoff
TV: TSN, ESPN3

The second and final game and final regular season game between the BC Lions(6-5 sitting 4th in the West) and the league leading Calgary Stampeders(9-1-1 won 7th consecutive in a row & won 15th straight win at home). Stamps are unbeaten in 5 games so far at home in 2017. The 2 teams met in Vancouver (Week 7) and Stampeders won 21-17.

Both the Stamps and the Lions won last week's game. Stamps pulled out a win against their Northern rival Eskimos 25-22 and Lions beating the Als 41-18.

OFFENSE:

QB Bo Levi Mitchell hasn't had an outstanding game in the past few games but he still find a way to win all the time. Last game against BC Lions, he threw 15 times for 237 yards, o TD and 1 INT. As we all know what happened last week against the Eskimos. Stamps were down by 4 points with few seconds left on a 3rd down gamble Bo Levi Mitchell threw a TD pass to Marquay McDaniel to win the game.

RB Jerome Messam rushed 15 times for 68 yards and 1 TD the last time these two teams played against each other. The leading receiver for the Stamps in Week 7 was Marken Michel 4 for 79 yards with no TD. As I can remember Michel caught a deep ball and was tackled on a 1-yard line, which Messam punched in for a TD after. Michel left that game late in the 2nd half. Rookie Reggie Begelton played his first game in the CFL on Week 7 and caught 1 pass for 28 yards. Begelton did not play last week and will dress tonight's game.

DEFENSE:

The last time these two teams played Stamps defense sacked Jennings twice(Thurman, Turner) and intercepted twice(1st for Singeton and Ciante Evans). MLB Alex Singleton had a great game last game with 7 tackles, 1 INT and 1 special team tackle.

SPECIAL TEAM:

Another match-up between the most exciting returner this season Roy Finch and last season's most exciting returner Chris Rainey. Last game between the two teams Finch returned punts 6 times for 50 yards and 20 yards is the longest then returned kickoff 3 times for 85 yards longest is 47 yards.

Chris Rainey on the other hand returned 3 punts for 41 yards longest is 29 yards. He returned 5 times for 101 yards and longest 33 yards. Both players did not score a TD on returns.

ROSTER MOVES:

Last game we saw bunch of defensive players go down but only Joe Burnett will not be back this game. DB Tommi Campbell, Jamar Wall went down last week but they are expected to play tonight. Receiver Anthony Parker and Davaris Daniels also went down but only Daniels will miss the game. Stamps were saying Daniels injury is not as bad as it looks and only expected to lose one game.

IN: Receiver Reggie Begelton, OL Cam Thorn, DB Patrick Levels and DL Mike Rose and Reuben Frank.

OUT: Receiver Davaris Daniels(1 game injured list), DB/LB Joe Burnett(6-game IR), DL Junior Turner(6-game IR), DB Adam Thibault(1-game IR) and OL Justin Renfrow.

************************************************** ********
BC Lions backup QB Travis Lulay will be gone for the season so even if Jennings struggles again they will be forced to keep him in the whole game. I really feel bad for Travis Lulay, a consummate pro in his CFL career. Not even sure if this season is his last. He will be free agent after this season and not sure there would be a lot of teams going after signing an often-injured QB.

GO STAMPS GO!!!!!!
