There was the New Pornographers, Sloan (particularly the Between the Bridges album), The Figgs, Supergrass, The Flashing Lights, Fountains of Wayne, that theme song to The 70s Show, etc. And then there was the freak folk (Devendra Banhart, CocoRose, Joanna Newsom, Akron/Family, etc.) trend five to ten years ago. We probably won't know if this current trend has legs until 5 or 10 years down the road.
These things do come in cycles. I know across the pond in the 90s, disco music made a big comeback with many British and French dance tracks sampling old disco tunes, pop bands covering Bee Gees songs and even platforms and bell bottoms becoming popular again in the clubs.

Not sure about 70s rock making a comeback now, but 80s synth music definitely is as Thor mentioned. My youtube recommendations are full of synthwave tracks. It's what I'm listening to most lately. I believe it started with the Drive soundtrack, then Stranger Things and now it's starting to explode. Lots of neon showing up in movies/music videos too.
