My desk has a cubby on either side of the legs. Keep my computer in there which is both convenient but a PITA. No other good option with my current desk.
When I get a new desk, it will still be on the floor but sitting on a firm surface like a piece of old shelving or something. Sitting on carpet is likely fine but feel like a solid surface under it cuts down a bit on dust.
There are lots of decent hangers you can buy that bolt in to your desk. It's a good option for browsing or email computers but likely not a great idea for enthusiasts with large cases.
