The blowout tide phenomenon would be particularly pronounced in the Bahamas since they have these large sand shelfs around the island. A little drop in tide goes out a long way there.
Update for anyone interested:
- The entire county is under curfew/lockdown as of 3pm today. Nobody is to be on the roads at all. This is to ensure that everyone is in a safe place ahead of the storm, and to stop potential looting.
- We are still in hospital since our discharge time fell just after the curfew. Nobody is allowed to leave the hospital at this point until Monday morning likely.
- It looks like we are only going to get a small portion of the force of this storm. For that we are incredibly thankful, but our hearts go out to those on the West coast of Florida.
- Momma and baby are both doing very well. We are calm and happy, and are just waiting to ride this storm out now.
I really feel for the keys people. There may not be anything left when they go home. I sincerely hope they all evacuated because the storm surge alone could potentially put the entire island under water.
