Yes, those guys, for the reasons you listed. Most fans who are hardcore enough to post on messageboards, who are hardcore enough to watch a youtube stream of a rookie camp game would know those players pretty easily. Parson with his Memorial Cup and World Junior performances and Valimaki simply by being a 1st round pick.
Jankowski, Foo, Parsons, Valimaki are probably well known prospects. The Oilers at this point maybe only had Yamamoto who was known, again because of a recent first round pick. Ethan Bear maybe too, because of the strides he's made since draft day. Although most teams have one of those hopefuls.
None of that means anything long term, but it's pretty logical at this point.
No one knows the 16th overall pick in the most recent draft? In these hockey circles? Really bizarre stance IMO.
