I know pretty much zilch about hurricane behavior but if I understand correctly they begin to lose strength over land more or less. Florida is going to get hammered without a doubt but would be the best case be if it came ashore at the southern tip of the State and moved due north right up the centre of it? No warm water to feed it so it could lose strength relatively quickly other than the rain. Florida is not that wide so literally 30-40 miles either way and it stays over the water and comes up the west or east side of the state which could make things even worse. Pretty slim margin but maybe that would be the best case scenario.
