It's just wishful thinking that Foo can make the NHL roster from opening night. I suggest people not to set themselves for that line of thinking, because the chance of that happening is minimal.

The big difference between the two is the position they play. Jankowski very well could have played in the NHL last season (not saying he should have). Due to centre depth, there was virtually no chance for him last season. He had a very impressive rookie season in the AHL, and he is very likely forcing his way onto the team this up coming year.
Unlike at C, we are thin on RW with the big club and it is very possible that he could impress in camp and force his way into the line up to start the year.
Signing an old, long haired living legend will more than likely ruin his chances of atleast starting the season for the Flames though
