I think the skunk made it out the skunk stairs sometime during the night I set it up. I lined the egress with a metric crap ton of critter ridder, chlorine and ammonia + closed up the burrow the morning after the stairs went up and it hadn't opened up again by today so I am cautiously optimistic.

I did order a night vision security camera to track progress for this, but doesn't look like it'll get here in time. Should have paid for Amazon Prime.

I water the lawn there daily so hopefully he was picking up a lot of the water going down the egress.

They should be able to smell them, I'd chuck a couple over into my neighbours yard or under his deck...jk...maybe.
Really didn't want the thing to burrow deeper than he/she already did, but didn't want to kill it. Which is why I flooded the egress with as much noxious fumes like chlorine and ammonia + critter ridder. I also kept on shining a super bright flashlight into the burrow so it would wake it up all the time.

Also are wooden window wells common? I've never seen this before.
Not sure about the wooden window well. It's a new build so that's what the builder gave me and it's all PT. Am probably going to raise it if I can and paint it some more because I am worried about rot.
