Three tickets for public urination issued during Edmonton Oilers' playoff run, report says:
Quote:
New statistics show law enforcement officers handed out just three tickets and seven warnings during the playoffs for peeing in public.
Two of the tickets were issued by Edmonton Transit officers at the MacEwan LRT station beside the arena, while the third ticket was issued by the city’s community standards officers.
Police gave out five warnings, but no tickets.
The fine for public urination is $500.
The statistics will be presented to city council’s community and public services committee next Thursday.

City officials said in the committee report that a variety of strategies were implemented to avoid any serious problems.
“Specifically, temporary toilet units were installed, safety and security measures were put into place to ensure washrooms were clean and safe for users, hours at a nearby city facility were extended, and temporary signage was used to direct citizens to washroom facilities,” the report says.
As well, Oilers Entertainment Group installed portable toilets outside to accommodate extra fans watching the games in Ford Hall.
The report said an “escalation plan” for public urination was devised but never implemented because the playoff run ended in the second round.
