He scores a little bit more - he has has a 40 goal season as mentioned by Vinny, but that was in 2010-11, the year the Canucks played well as an entire team. Other than that he's a 20-25 goal man. Possession wise, his stats aren't as good as Backlund. And Backlund is younger. Hits - meh. Faceoffs - Kesler is definitely better (which makes Backlund's possession stats more remarkable IMO - imagine if he improves his faceoffs).
In the two years before his most recent contract, he was a 20 goal/45 point guy. Like Backlund is now. If Backlund's agent isn't using Kesler as a comparable, he's crazy.
