Went to my in-laws last night, and apparently my Father-in-law has been battling wasps for the last couple weeks. They've set up shop under his hot-tub (between the panelling and the shell) and are feasting on dropped apples from his crab apple tree.
The man is a fearless machine. I watched him (from the safety of a screen door) battle no less than 10 wasps trying to attack his weiners while he handled the grill.
He's got bottle traps up everywhere, and even made some kind of cardboard box death-exit contraption that he encased their entryway with, that had a bug-zapping racket taped to the top. Managed to kill a few dozen before they found a new exit in a less accessible spot.
Exterminators gotta be making bank this summer.
