That was 2012. Winning every round in 5 games helped get him rest in the playoffs. He also only played 61 games the prior season and 6 playoff games. That's why I mentioned the part about playing 70+ year after year. Brodeur is the only one who has been able to do that.

In 2014, Quick only played 49 regular season games after the short year in 2013 too.


You can pretend it doesn't exist, but there's ample evidence that heavy workload is cumulative.

Luongo had many unsuccessful seasons playing 70+ games and went to the Final the year he played 60. Kiprusoff had many unsuccessful seasons playing 70+ and went to the Final the year he played 39. Belfour played 70+ in 3 of his first 5 seasons in Chicago. He didn't get out of the first round in those three seasons, and went to the Conference Final and Final in the other 2 seasons.
