Didn't think much of it or the discomfort until after the game when I took the glove off and found the ring had been broken in half and ended up cutting pretty deep into my finger.
You edited while I posted. Yes I take it off for all sports and if it breaking and cutting you was the worst you got then you got lucky.

A guy I played softball with caught the ball right on the ring and his finger started swelling up around it, I think he had to go to the Hospital and they had to cut it off his finger with boltcutters or something ridiculous like that.

Whether thats true or not I'm not risking it, I always take my ring off for sports.

Oh....and Golf is not a sport, its a nice walk being ruined.
