But in the US, the Nation doesn't really feel that they have come to a resolution about slavery, it feels like the Civil war hasn't been completely resolved. An interesting fact is that there is no national memorial to slavery in the US (Like the Vietnam memorial). They have tried, but no luck

Yeah this I definitely agree with.
It's hard to come up with a situation where the losing side in a civil war has been allowed to whitewash and re-interpret everything that happened, to a point where
Lost Cause "history" is probably as well or even better known at this point than the actual history.
(I think the country is absolutely on the right track with finally starting to replace Confederate history with what I would call actual history, and statues are a good place to start.)
