Jagr is great insurance with the realistic chance that Ferland proves to be nothing more than a bottom 6 winger. I donhave hopesmfor Ferland but he rode a hot shooting % to a 15 goal 25pt year where he played the last 1/3 of the season on the top line.

I am all for giving Ferland a shot with Monahan and Gaudreau to start the year but if he falters the options to replace him are limited. Looking at Versteeg, Brouwer, an AHLer like Poirier/Foo, or moving Tkachuk to the RW or Bennett.

Adding Jagr gives the Flames another option on the top line if need be. Personally I think he is best suited to play with Bennett on the third line and help give him more socorng opportunities.
