I get your point. But how many times did the Flames have to draft top 10 before they got a #1 centre out of it? Sure you're expected to find gold in the top 10 but it doesn't always pan out (Tkaczuk, Fata, Krahn, etc)

I think it's fair to say the Jets struck gold. There's enough busts and disappointments that are taken top 10 that getting a franchise centre still has to be considered a big success.
