Digital campaign is one thing. Weaponizing social media is another. Facebook is the biggest purveyor of misinformation and disinformation on the planet today. So for the people behind the Trump campaign to come out and admit the victory was a result of Facebook is just - depressing. Deception and lies were long considered core to the Trump campaign, and a massive contribution to fake news promoted through social media (Facebook and Twitter) greatly made it possible for Trump to be competitive. Add in the analytic data, and you have a recipe for not only stealing elections, but for brainwashing specific targets in the social media sphere. The ramifications of this admission are not only scary, but dangerous to our democracy in the future.
