Pretty weird, in light of them giving one to Alex De Minaur, another 18 year old who's ranked like 180 or something, but I guess that's required by the agreement they have with the Aussie Open.
Two of the guys who got wild cards are ranked 700 or lower (one is 917th), and none of them are ranked ahead of Shapovalov.
Seems like a missed opportunity to capitalize on a bit of hype.
