The toss is the most important part of the serve as far as ensuring you are able to direct the ball where you need it to go. When your wrist is taped up and sore, obviously your entire motion and toss point is going to be way off. This is evident in the fact that Milos could barely muster one ace....something they were noting he has never done before. He could clearly not even come close to hitting his normal two handed backhand, which in itself was a kiss of death.
I give him a ton of credit for going out there and giving it an honest try. Unlike his counterpart, Bouchard, who would rather slink into a hole and hide, it shows a lot of guts.
