We all love to #### on certain players when they have off seasons, but Brouwer seems to be as good a leader and guy as they come. There's more than one side to a hockey team, and it really shows that Brouwer is as respected as he is to have received an 'A' in his first season, especially among a really solid crop of other candidates like Backlund and Stajan.
You can argue all you want about the qualifications of those players, and about how positive an influence Brouwer shows with his play, but he seems to be a top-flite guy who garners a lot of respect -- and I have all the time in the world for a guy like that on the team I cheer for.

It's great that he can be a mentor for the kids off the ice, every team needs that. My problem was that it never translated on the ice. He wasn't the guy that stepped up for teammates or stepped up when times were tough. No matter how hard I try I can't forget when Johnny got his hand broken and he shrugged it off as no big deal. Those are the rally points that a team can come together and build off of and he was very public that it was nothing to get worked up about and shouldn't be responded to. Great players use adversity to drive them, Brower seemed to shrug it off.
