If there's one thing that I'm quite sure Brouwer is, he's a respected NHL veteran with a great influence on the kids. He's been around the block more than once, that's for sure. It's great to see him out there with Poirier.

We all love to #### on certain players when they have off seasons, but Brouwer seems to be as good a leader and guy as they come. There's more than one side to a hockey team, and it really shows that Brouwer is as respected as he is to have received an 'A' in his first season, especially among a really solid crop of other candidates like Backlund and Stajan.

You can argue all you want about the qualifications of those players, and about how positive an influence Brouwer shows with his play, but he seems to be a top-flite guy who garners a lot of respect -- and I have all the time in the world for a guy like that on the team I cheer for.
