McNabb went after Brouwer and punched him in the face before dropping the gloves, as the video clearly shows. Brouwer defended himself, but threw punches only with his uninjured right hand. It seems fairly obvious to me why a man recovering from a broken finger does not go around starting fistfights, and why he would be less effective than normal with a two-handed implement such as a hockey stick.
