I don't think anybody wants him to fail. Just given the historically terrible season it's hard to be confident in anything else other than what we've seen.
To answer the OP's question, no way they buyout Brouwer until the end of 2018-19 when they have major contracts to worry about (Tkachuk, Ferland and possibly Bennett).
