If you go by regulation wins Edmonton had 37 and Calgary had 32.
Flames made up ground with 3 on 3 and shootouts.
They had 17 ties to Edmonton's 19, but gained 13 extra points in those games to Edmonton's 10.
There really isn't any such thing as a loser point. Those always existed as ties. Rather they added a gimmick point for the team that wins the S/O or 3on3.
Under old school standings Edmonton would have finished:
37-26-19
and Calgary:
32-33-17
That's a bigger difference (12 points) when you remove the parts of the game that aren't really hockey.
