Technically, a small sail on the foremast of a ship, distinctvely shaped/coloured to display one's nationality/affiliation. You could tell that from the "cut" of the jib.
The phrase "I like the cut of your jib" is an idiom - to like one's appearance/personality/demeanour
Back on topic - I like the signing, especially the 2 years. Gives the flames a long look at Lazar, and if he produces, on track to be a bargain for 2 years. Worst case, trade/bury and mark it up as a gamble lost.
The Bennett deal can now either be a long term deal buying 1-2 UFA years, or a bridge with room to add another forward.
