Personally, I got annoyed at the baseless mythology which has developed around the player and the baseless hero worship. It is reminiscent of the Reagan mythology conservatives have developed around the former actor president. There is a segment of the fans who think Iginla walks on water and cures disease. It is hard to continue to be supportive of something that is so detached from reality. What I'm waiting for next is the Iggy fans to start claiming Iginla's stats of his most recent seasons are "fake stats" and completely dismiss them. It has reached that level of ridiculousness where reality is being dismissed for a nostalgic past that never existed.
