My lawn isn't very big, so I was thinking of getting something like this for $30 as opposed to renting a machine from home depot every year.

I have this. Maybe have about 1000 sq feet total between front and back.

It takes me about an hour to do it every 8 inches.

I'm having a hell of a time with my grass. I can't get anything to grow. I have no weeds but the grass is thin and ####ty.

I've fertilized, thatched by hand and overseeded with several different types of seed. Nothing will grow except some scruffy grass and thistle when I let it grow up.

The plugs that are coming up with the aerator are just powder. Bad soil maybe?
