I still think Wotherspoon is a pretty solid prospect, and I am glad the Flames decided to give him a qualifying offer.
However, he never seems to have strong training camps prior to the beginning of seasons. I'm not counting on him stealing Kulak's spot in that bottom pairing role.
I do think Wotherspoon can get some NHL time if Hamonic is injured. Wotherspoon could potentially play a similar role, but in a 5/6 capacity. But if I'm not mistaken, he is waiver eligible (or soon to be). So I would also not be surprised if the Flames lost him to a claim.
