The best of Murphy's peers in the 2011 draft have 1, maybe 2 solid NHL seasons under their belt. Hamilton, Brodin, Larsson, Kelfbom. Many others in his draft are just starting to solidify full time spots: Manson, C. Murphy, Nesterov, Beaulieu. Ryan Murphy definitely has upside.

Just lock him in a room and make him watch tapes of how Ryan Ellis played over the last two seasons over and over.
They were very similar players with similar skill sets coming out of junior. Ellis really developed his game and learned how to play strong defense with his frame.
Murphy hasn't been able to do that yet.
