So Kushner's meeting with Russian bank VEB during the transition period is starting to look really significant; in part because VEB isn't really a bank, but more a private financing wing of the Russian government; VEB has been hit with sanctions by the US for that reason. Kushner's meeting apparently came at the request of ambassador Kislyak, was with its director Gorkov who is essentially a KGB operative. And revealed as Kushner's just hired one of the top criminal defense lawyers in the country (Abbe Lowell, who defended Clinton during impeachment hearings.)
And signs out there report to the Times having another incoming bombshell. People in the industry have been aware of a major incoming story from the times since at least Friday, and it's possible that it could have been bumped back yesterday so as not to knock the CBO story off the front page. Observers have also noted that Fox rolled out the narrative late last week that collusion with Russia wouldn't necessarily be illegal, and speculation is that this line is coming from the whitehouse as a way to get ahead of an incoming story.
