There are a bunch of different versions of that router. Version 5 and after cannot be hacked (maybe it can, but not easily like the earlier versions - I have 2.2).
I'm not sure what channel I picked. I believe 6 is the default.

Don't worry about the info it gives (I can't understand half of what it tells me), but it will tell you how many networks your computer can see (no matter how faint) and what channel they are on. Pick a channel that isn't very common and give that a try.
