I still think Evander Kane would be a great fit, especially if the sabres are looking to trade him. Of course it would depend on if he'd want to play in Calgary long term, if he won't then it's not worth trading for one year of him.

I highly doubt "most" would agree with that.
Until Stone is re-signed, or someone like Hamonic traded for, #4 Dman is by far the Flames biggest need.
Then I'd argue that a 5th legit Dman and even a back up goalie are more needed right now than a legit top line RW.
A back up goalie is going to play close to 30 games, and that's if Smith stays 100% healthy, and even with Stone or Hamonic, the most experienced D the Flames have after the top 4 is Bartkowski.
Meanwhile, with Ferland on the top line last year both Monahan and Gaudreau were point per game + players while Ferland scored on a 25+ goal pace. Just by re-signing all our RFA's the Flames right now have a full compliment of forwards, and it's the same group that made the playoffs last season, with most of the key guys being under 25 years old and likely to improve.
