Brouwer's 2016–17 season was the worst of his entire NHL career. I don't think it is at all a "huge if" to see him do better next year. Rather to the contrary, I don't see how he cannot but improve.
In any event, 35 points in a season from a second/third line winger is solid production, and is actually quite close in range for his salary as a UFA acquisition.
