I wouldn't go as far as calling us a "lock" but I'd be pretty shocked if the Flames don't make the playoffs next season.
Gaudreau misses training camp, as does Monahan.
Monahan and Backlund nursing nagging injuries to start the season.
Huge change in coaching system.
TERRIBLE goaltending.
No decent fit for a #4 Dman.
A lot of things had to go wrong for the Flames to start the season that badly. I doubt anything close to that happens again to start next season, and if it they don't start 5-10-1 they are more likely to push for a division title than they are to miss the playoffs IMO.
