Here are the Flames who have worn #41 in the last decade:

Chad Billins

Danny Taylor

Raitis Ivanans

Dustin Boyd

So, that's a 5'10" career minor-league defenseman, an AHL all-star calibre goalie who never really made it to the NHL, and a mediocre bottom-six forward who is now a mainstay on the Kazakhstani national team.

Not to mention the world's worst enforcer. This is a rundown of his career here:

- Played two games total as a Flame in two separate seasons
- One game per year.
- In the first game, he fought Steve MacIntyre
- He lost the fight so badly that he was injured for the entire season
- The Flames lost 4-0
- In the second game (against Boston), he played 11:05 and was a -1
- The Flames lost 9-0
- Total goal-differential with the Flames: -13.

Raitis Ivanans, everybody.

Hopefully Smith is better than all of those guys combined. He will do that as soon as he makes his first save as a Flame.
