One thing people don't seem to be factoring in when analyzing the cost of the move is that the Yotes retained salary. Your proposal of moving the pick down a round is probably correct if the Flames were getting Smith for his full contract. How much do you think getting the Yotes to eat a quarter of his contract is worth?
